Sr. Receiving Inspector


Proteus Industries is a small manufacturer of liquid flow meters and related products.  We are a stable employer with a good benefit package.  Learn more about us at  We are looking for a Senior Receiving Inspector.

You will perform Receiving Inspection of components & subassemblies per associated procedures as well as complete Inspection Logs and Reject/Waiver Reports with feedback of manufacturing technique. As a Quality Assurance department member, you will participate in the ECO (Engineering Change Order) meetings for new & changes to products, components & subassemblies as well as MRB (Material Review Board) & RMA Task Force (Returned Materials) meetings that review material failures through the supply chain as well as any returned materials from customers.

You will maintain or develop component/subassembly Inspection procedures and Receiving/Inspection Area procedures, perform Final Inspection, First Article of Manufacturing Inspection Reports (FAIRs) as well as assist with Design Reviews with Engineering using design review checklists.

You will have:

  • At least five years’ experience with receiving inspection or similar positions
  • A stable work history
  • Machine Shop, molding/casting, welding & other manufacturing process experience
  • Knowledge of GD&T’s
  • A two-year technical degree
  • Fluent English language skills
  • Basic math and geometry
  • Microsoft Office
  • Document Control Program such as MasterControl
  • SolidWorks or AutoCad as necessary to support CMM Programming
  • Measuring Methods (double substitution, artifact comparison)
  • Measuring Tools Operation (CMM, calipers, surface plate, micrometer, ring and plug gages, pin gages, angle protractor, drop indicator, electrical multi-meter, pressure gauge, gauss meter)
  • Measuring Tools Maintenance (calipers, surface plate, micrometer, pin/ring/plug gages, Drop indicator, etc.)
  • Measuring Tool check standards (gage blocks, angle blocks, master coil for inductance, master rotor magnets for gauss, hole gauges)
  • CMM in manual mode & ability to program CMM

Mechanical Design / Manufacturing Engineer

Job Summary: The Mechanical Design / Manufacturing Engineer’s primary responsibility will be the design of customizations to existing Proteus products as well as minor product redesign projects. This position will also perform a variety of duties in support of the manufacturing engineering team such as fixturing/tooling design, participating in NPI project design reviews, and contributing to continuous improvement projects. This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop product customization solutions which meet the specification requirements defined by the customer and Marketing team.
  • Develop and optimize designs in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks).
  • Complete and release component/assembly designs and documentation, including 2D drawings via the ECO process
  • Perform Design Reviews and risk mitigation processes (DFA, FMEA, tolerance analysis, etc.)
  • Develop and validate fixturing and tooling to support new products and continual improvement projects within the production process
  • Collaborate with offsite R&D team to participate in design reviews for new products in development and assist in the transition of NPI projects into production
  • Redline existing technical drawings to provide to drafting team for implementation
  • Interface with vendors to address technical concerns regarding part manufacturability
  • Interface with Design Engineering, Purchasing, Production, Quality, and management teams to create customized products while communicating updates on a regular basis
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of information contained in all documents/data, files, databases, and physical documentation system(s)
  • Provide mechanical engineering sustaining support for resolution of manufacturing and field issues
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager.


  • Requires a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of experience performing mechanical design
  • Proficiency in a 3D CAD software (SolidWorks strongly preferred) 
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T (proficiency is a plus)
  • Experience with 2D CAD systems (AutoCAD) is a plus
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
